Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry

At Kauffmann and Sims Dentistry, we provide a wide variety of solutions for your cosmetic needs. We believe that the best long term solution for your cosmetic needs is to be as conservative as possible.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a relatively quick and painless procedure that uses a tooth colored resin to correct chips, cracks, and gaps in your teeth. The material will be placed to the area to be corrected, then a special light will cause the resin to harden and “bond to the tooth”. Our experienced team and Nunnally and Kauffmann Dentistry have been performing dental bonding procedures in the Louisville area for years, so you can trust your smile in our hands.

This procedure is typically quick and performed in office, not requiring any castings, molds, or lengthy customizations to be completed by the lab. Once the bonding process is complete, you can leave the office to enjoy your new, beautiful smile!

Dental Bonding is a common option for many tooth imperfections, including:

  • Decayed Teeth
  • Tooth Chips or Cracks
  • Discoloration
  • Noticeable Gaps and Spaces
  • Short, Misshaped Teeth
  • Exposed roots
  • Receding gums

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are a beautiful and effective method for correcting stained, chipped, or otherwise imperfect teeth. By carefully placing glasslike ceramic porcelain coverings on the surface of your teeth, providing our patients with straight, natural looking, beautiful smiles. Placement of porcelain veneers requires the skilled hand of an experienced dentist.

The glasslike ceramic porcelain material that veneers are made from are designed to look, act, and function just like natural tooth enamel.

Porcelain Veneer Procedure:

Typically, the entire veneer placement procedure takes 2-3 visits to complete, depending on the need for the patient.

During the first visit, our dentist will first plan your beautiful new smile by determining what size, shape, style, and type of veneer will best fit your smile, facial structures, and cosmetic desires.

Next, we will carefully prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel to allow the new veneer to be placed correctly. Temporary veneers will then be placed while the permanent veneer is custom crafted at the dental laboratory.

The final step in your smile transformation is the placement of the new veneers. You will then walk out of the office with your brand new, beautiful smile.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are utilized in treatment for many reasons. Significant cracks, fractures, chips, post root canal therapy, worn teeth, and large cavities are some of the reasons why a crown might be required for treatment, to ensure longevity for tooth health. Additonally, crowns can be placed on anterior teeth to create a beautiful smile, often times being recommended over a porcelain veneer, depending on the patients needs. Several different types of crowns are able to be made. Our dentists will recommend a specific type of crown, depending on the nature of the problem that is being treated. They are highly esthetic, functional, and tend to last for a long time.

This procedure is typically a two appointment process. The first appointment consists of a pain free experience, where our dentists will prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of tooth structure, allowing the new crown to replicate the size and shape of the original tooth. Thereafter, an impression will be taken and sent to the lab for the crown to be custom made. You will leave the office after the first visit with a temporary crown, and will return to the office to have the crown placed.
