Oral Surgery

While Dr. Kauffmann has advanced training in oral surgery, completing a 1 year oral surgery internship upon completion of dental school. This training has equipped them with extensive knowledge in oral surgery and sedation techniques to provide optimum comfort for patients. It is typically important to replace a tooth after extraction, so be sure to ask about replacement options. From bridges to implants to dentures, the options are numerous.

Socket Preservation

Socket Preservation technique is a procedure performed after some dental extractions in order to preserve bone density in the area for future dental implant placement. It is a quick and painless process, typically only taking a few minutes after a dental extraction. If a dental implant is being considered for replacement, socket preservation is typically recommended to provide a higher rate of success for a future dental implant.

Extractions

Dental extractions are necessary in cases where teeth can not be restored. Extensive infection, large cavities, root fractures, and other conditions may lead to the need to have a tooth extracted. At Nunnally and Kauffmann Dentistry, we use modern surgical techniques and equipment to extract teeth to provide a comfortable experience for the patient.

Alveoloplasty

This is a procedure that is often required upon extracting multiple teeth in preparation of a complete or partial denture. When several teeth are extracted, the underlying bone can sometimes have sharp contours that will not allow a denture to be worn comfortably. This procedure is painless and will create a smooth contour allowing a denture to be worn without discomfort.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Dr. Kauffmann will evaluate wisdom teeth in patients to see if they are in need of being removed. A panorex or CBCT radiograph will be obtained for evaluation. Wisdom teeth are typically removed in office under IV sedation or local anesthesia upon completion of a thorough consultation.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.
